I friggin’ love exercise! So much so, that I spent 8 years of post secondary study learning everything I could about it. I’ve been in the industry for 18 years in every role from programming, fitness assessments, group fitness classes, personal training, clinical exercise physiology, physiological testing, and clinical research; to name a few.
I have a special passion for helping runners build strength. I ran state level track when I was younger, but when I started running longer distances along came the usual injuries. Shin splints, foot pain, ITB issues – you name it. I was strength training, but I needed to get specific. I started my own ‘running strength’ program and all of a sudden things started to click. Those niggly injuries were gone, I took 40 minutes off my half marathon time, and running actually started to feel good! That’s when I knew that I had to share this, and the idea for Runner’s Strength Lab was born.
I was growing tired of seeing people (women especially) being sucked in to fad diets and exercise programs being pushed on social media by people with no real education or qualifications. People deserve better than that. Better than the detox teas, the booty bands, and the lose stubborn belly fat in 30days BS. So in 2020, after 13 years in the industry, I thought that I can sit here and point fingers, but it was time to point the finger at myself. I firmly believe that people deserve better, so what am I doing about this? I’d had enough of commercial gyms and the sales-y environments and knew I wanted to do things on my terms. I’d owned a mobile Personal Training business during my undergrad and had been toying with the idea of bringing back a coaching business in some capacity for a few years. The global pandemic gave me the silver lining of time so here we are!
In 2025 I added clinic services with physiological testing, running assessments, and 1:1 consultations
Maintaining my integrity and being genuine are really important to me. I give it to you straight, and what you see is what you get. My core values are integrity, honesty, knowledge, authenticity, and humour. I truly believe that exercise is for every body and any movement is good movement, it’s about finding what’s best for you! I’m passionate about educating people about the how and why of exercise.
When I’m not writing programs, or assessing runners in the clinic, you can find me running in the trails, walking my doggo, on the patio of my favourite craft brewery or winery, or traveling with my husband. We like to run half marathons when on holidays – yep, we’re that family.
